Inaugural Greensburg Craft Beer Week Set for October
A celebration of the Greensburg community and its growing beer scene promises unique events.
The inaugural Greensburg Craft Beer Week will be held from October 12th through October 15th 2017 at venues throughout the Greensburg area.
Greensburg Craft Beer Week will celebrate the Greensburg community and its growing beer scene. With multiple bars and restaurants embracing craft beer and a growing number of breweries in the Westmoreland County area, the amount of events will be plentiful.
“After participating in beer weeks in other cities as a brewery representative, I felt that Greensburg had the creativity, collaboration, and community to sustain similar events, even if on a smaller scale.” Jenn Weir, one of the organizers of the event said. “Given the early pioneers of craft beer, new venues that have put craft beer at the forefront, and long-standing establishments that have been adopting and embracing craft, Greensburg has something special to offer not only the 15601 zip code, but also neighboring Westmoreland communities. ”
The four day event will not only showcase beer brewed in the Greensburg region, but invites beer lovers to experience a variety of unique events exploring breweries locally and beyond.
“This is an event we’ve been discussing for a while and are now excited to put it into motion” said Jessica Hickey, founder of the Downtown Greensburg Project and producer of Greensburg Craft Beer Week. “Through the Downtown Greensburg Project we were looking for our first larger scale event that was very community oriented and we found it with Craft Beer Week and the craft community. We’ve had some great feed back not only from local breweries, restaurants and bars looking to host events but from other small businesses in Greensburg excited to see an event focusing on the growing community.”
Event planning has begun and announcements will be ongoing about the week’s multiple events. Planned events are varied and unique with many focusing on locally brewed beer and collaborations while others will focus on pairing craft beers with everything from yoga and running to cigars and chocolate.
