Home Brew Competition and Brewers Double Dare Signature Events Scheduled for GbgCBW

Home Brew and Chill, a home brew competition and collaboration beer tasting event and Brewers Double Dare are coming to All Saints Brewery as the Signature Events for the second annual Greensburg Craft Beer Week.

Home Brew and Chill, produced by the Downtown Greensburg Project, is the official home brew competition + beer fest of #GBGCBW. Hosted at All Saints on September 23, the community won’t want to miss local home brewers go head to head to compete with unique brews they won’t find anywhere else!

“We had a lot of questions about a home brewer’s event last year and we didn’t really want to host any signature events our first year,” said Jessica Hickey, Downtown Greensburg Project founder and Greensburg Craft Beer Week event director. “A home brew competition was the first thing on our list to tackle for 2018 and we figured why not let participants try all of our collaborations during the event as well.”

Home Brew and Chill is a ticketed event where guests will be able to taste all of the 2018 GbgCBW collaboration beers and vote for their favorite home brews entered into the competition. Enjoy live music, food trucks and the photo booth then grab some GBGCBW swag at the merch tent! Tickets go on sale July 1st with general admission and VIP options. For more event and ticketing information visit the Home Brew and Chill event page.

Home brewers can enter two beers into the competition that will be judged by local brewers and attendees of the event. The overall Brewer’s Choice winner will have the opportunity to brew at Fury Brewing Company while the People’s Choice winner will work with a local brewery to develop a new collaboration beer for 2019’s Greensburg Craft Beer Week. Home brewers interested in more information or for a Home Brew Packet please email greensburgcbw@gmail.com.

Greensburg Craft Beer Week partnered with Moxie Events, Greensburg based photo booth and DJ company, for their second signature event, Brewer’s Double Dare on September 30 at All Saints.

“When Moxie Events came to us wanting to be a sponsor, they also wanted to host a fun event sometime during the week,” said Hickey. “We really wanted to end the week with celebration and relaxing event for everyone to just hang out at. Adam and I went back and forth on doing Beer Olympics and kinda fell into the Brewers Double Dare and knew it was the perfect event to do.”

Relive the 90s and be a part of the audience while teams from local breweries go head-to-head by answering craft beer centric questions; competing in slimy, messy physical challenges; and ultimately facing the difficult obstacle course to determine who the Brewers Double Dare champion is!

“Double Dare the game show was such a huge part of our lives when we were younger. Giving brewers the opportunity to relax, have fun, get messy and entertain us and fits exactly what we wanted to do for an event,” said Adam DeFlorio, owner of Moxie Events. “I love that we’re a part of the Brewers Double Dare and and I hope that they want to do it every year. Heck maybe someday Mark Summers would come out.”

Brewers Double Dare is a free event for spectators and brewery teams. For more information please visit the Brewers Double Dare event page.
